Ink fingerprinting is the traditional method of collecting fingerprints that is still used for many reasons today.
A person's fingertips are rolled in ink to cover the entire fingerprint area. Then each finger is rolled onto prepared cards from one side of the fingernail to the other. These are called rolled impressions. Finally, all fingers of each hand are placed down on the bottom of the card at a 45-degree angle to produce a set of plain (or flat) impressions.
We provide only the highest quality ink printing as our entire staff of Fingerprint Technicians are trained on a state and federal level and held to a higher standard of fingerprint collection.
PrintScan strives to capture the highest quality ink fingerprints possible. However, there are instances where fingerprint cards are rejected due to low quality images. This is generally due to age or various skin conditions. PrintScan will always provide an additional set of fingerprints at no cost when you provide a notice of rejection.
At PrintScan we use only the highest quality ink pads available. This makes all the difference with fingers that may be dry or oily and have trouble picking up ink and rolling an acceptable print. The ink pads regulate the flow of ink, preventing fingers from becoming over-inked and causing smudging. The ink dries instantly onto the fingerprint cards, allowing your request to be submitted immediately. Best of all, the ink is easy to remove from fingertips upon completion of being fingerprinted!
Ink fingerprints are generally required for requests to send fingerprints for:
Most federal agencies still require traditional ink fingerprints for employment applications or other various federal requests.
When applying for a license or background check in a state you do not reside in, ink fingerprinting will be required. Different states require different card formats. Ink Fingerprinting can be provided on any card format you need.
Most foreign countries requesting your fingerprints will ask you to be fingerprinted on a card or form of some kind. Always be sure to check with the foreign entity to be sure you're using the correct form.
PrintScan offers electronic fingerprint capture and uses FBI certified card printers to generate as many fingerprint cards as you might need! These cards are considered equivalent to traditional ink fingerprinting.
