Understanding EFT Files for ATF eForms

An EFT file, short for Electronic Fingerprint Transmission, is a digital file containing your fingerprints and demographic details. These files come in various formats depending on the requesting agency's requirements.

PrintScan offers ATF-compliant EFT File services for individuals completing Form 1 or Form 4 through ATF's eForms portal. Our nationwide network of locations can capture your fingerprints, and you'll receive your EFT file electronically within 72 hours. This EFT file can be downloaded and saved for future use with any ATF requirement. When filling out your application on ATF's eForms portal, you'll simply upload the EFT file provided by PrintScan.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q.

Which ATF eForms accept EFT submissions?

A.

ATF eForms 1 and eForms 4 support EFT submissions. For all other forms, fingerprint cards are required. Please note that your EFT file is valid exclusively for forms 1 and 4.

Q.

What does PrintScan do with my fingerprints after scanning?

A.

Your privacy is paramount. PrintScan ensures that fingerprint cards and fingerprint images are not retained beyond 30 calendar days post-receipt or upon the successful execution of the transaction, whichever timeframe is shorter. All fingerprint data is meticulously destroyed/deleted, adhering strictly to the FBI CJIS Security Policy.

Q.

What to do after receiving your EFT file?

A.

Once your fingerprint appointment is complete, you won't be able to view the EFT file. Your next step is to provide the EFT file to your FFL dealer.

After the fingerprint service, click the link to download your file. Keep in mind that the file expires after 24 hours and becomes inaccessible.

  • Do NOT download the file to your cell phone, as it won't work.

  • Do NOT attempt to open the encrypted file; it's not viewable.

  • DO ensure you download your file to a trusted computer as soon as you access it.

  • DO send a copy of the EFT file to your local FFL dealer for uploading.
