PrintScan's software allows for electronic fingerprint file (EFT) creation. Once fingerprints are electronic captured using our live scan system, an EFT file is generated and can be used for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) eForm submissions.

ATF Form 1 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm) and ATF Form 4 (Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm) are available on ATF's eForms portal. When completing your application on ATF's eForms portal, you will be required to upload your electronic fingerprint file, in .EFT format, to the system.

Which ATF eforms can I use PrintScan's software to fingerprint for?

A.

ATF eForms1 and eForms 4 allows for EFT submissions. All other eForms still require fingerprint cards and does not allow electronic fingerprint (EFT) files.

What do individuals do once they receive the EFT file after fingerprints have been captured on PrintScan's software?

A.

Individuals receiving an electronic file will not be able to view the EFT file. The EFT file can be provided to an individual's Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer or manually uploaded into ATF's eForms portal.

What am I allowed to do with the EFT file?

A.

After the fingerprint capture onto PrintScan's live scan software is completed, the file can be saved and uploaded into ATF's eForms portal. Individuals will not be able to open or view the file. Each EFT file is encrypted.
